One of the most common misconceptions in pregnancy is that a baby is exactly 40 weeks old at 40 weeks gestation, and the day you pass 40 weeks, your placenta somehow magically just stops perfusing.

False.

Pregnancy is typically dated from the first day of the last menstrual period, which means gestational age includes roughly two weeks before ovulation and conception occur.

This is why a baby at 40 weeks gestation is generally closer to 38 weeks from conception.

Understanding this distinction can help women better understand how due dates are calculated and why due dates are estimates rather than guarantees.

Every pregnancy is different.

Some inductions are medically necessary and life-saving.

But women deserve to understand how their due date was established, what alternatives exist, and whether an intervention is being recommended because of a true medical indication or simply because a date on the calendar has arrived.

We don’t need more representation of chronic illness.

We need more truth about where it comes from.

Type 1 diabetes isn’t simply bad luck. Chronic illness in children shouldn’t be considered normal. And managing symptoms is not the same thing as asking why those symptoms developed in the first place.

Children living with chronic illness deserve compassion, support, and representation.

But they also deserve a healthcare system willing to ask harder questions.

Why are rates of autoimmune disease rising?

Why are we seeing more food allergies, eczema, metabolic dysfunction, and immune dysregulation at younger ages?

Why has chronic illness become so common that we’ve stopped being shocked by it?

These conversations shouldn’t be controversial.

We should be investing just as much energy into prevention, early intervention, environmental health, metabolic health, immune function, and root-cause investigation as we do into disease management.

I’m Dominique, RN, BSN, and Family Nurse Practitioner student.

I’ve always been fascinated by the connection between symptoms, lifestyle, and overall health. Over the years, that curiosity evolved into a passion for helping people better understand what their bodies may be trying to communicate.

During my clinical experience, I became increasingly frustrated watching people deteriorate while our healthcare system focused on managing symptoms rather than asking why those symptoms were occurring in the first place.

I saw patients struggling with chronic disease, fatigue, metabolic dysfunction, hormone imbalances, and preventable health issues. Too often, they felt unheard, discouraged, or left without answers.

It became clear to me that something has to change.

The current model is excellent for acute care, trauma, emergencies, and lifesaving interventions. But when it comes to prevention, education, and understanding the factors that contribute to long term health, many people are still falling through the cracks.

That’s why I created Solari Wellness.

The name Solari comes from the Latin word sol, meaning sun. To me, it represents light, clarity, vitality, and hope. Just as the sun illuminates what was once hidden, my goal is to help uncover the deeper factors influencing health and bring greater understanding to the healing process.

Through functional lab interpretation, wellness consultations, and personalized recommendations, I help clients gain deeper insight into their health and identify potential contributors to the symptoms they’re experiencing.

My areas of interest include fertility awareness, thyroid health, hormone balance, metabolic wellness, nutrition, hair loss, iron deficiency, and functional testing.

My goal is not to replace your healthcare team. My goal is to help you better understand your body, ask better questions, and become an active participant in your own health journey.
